Innovations are rarely the act of genius inspiration. If we have a framework loosely describing our world, then we can use that systematically search for innovations. Or, if we do have that strike of inspiration, we can use the same framework to think that through.
Luckily, we have the extended version of den Hertog’s 4 dimension model of services that we can use.
A modern model of service innovation – a recap
We’ve looked at den Hertog’s original 4-dimension model of services from 2000. And how it could be extended to fit in the world we find ourselves in in 2019+. That involved three subtle changes:
- making technology a key component
- introducing data as a new dimension
- expanding “delivery” to include partnerships
It resulted in Figure 1.
